Getting Started
Your first steps with RoyalCare Health Services
Senior in-home care delivers professional health and personal support services to older adults in their own home. Rather than relocating to a care facility, your loved one receives the help they need — bathing, grooming, meals, companionship, medication reminders and more — while remaining in the familiar environment they love. If your loved one is struggling with daily tasks, experiencing loneliness, managing a health condition, or if you're unsure whether they're safe at home alone, a free consultation with RoyalCare Health Services is the ideal first step.
Call us at 647-557-2986, email info@royalcs.org, or submit an online request. A RoyalCare care coordinator will reach out for a free, no-obligation consultation to understand your loved one's specific needs and recommend the most appropriate care plan — all at no charge.
In most cases, RoyalCare Health Services can have a qualified caregiver placed within 24–48 hours of your initial consultation. For urgent situations — such as a hospital discharge — call us directly at 647-557-2986 and we will prioritise your request immediately. We maintain a pool of pre-screened caregivers available for these situations.
RoyalCare Health Services serves 83 Ontario municipalities including Toronto, Mississauga, Brampton, Ottawa, Hamilton, Markham, Vaughan, Burlington, Oakville, Ajax, Whitby, Pickering, Kingston, Barrie, London, Windsor, Kitchener, Guelph, Niagara Falls, Peterborough, Sudbury, Thunder Bay, and many more. Our Services
What we offer and what's right for your loved one
RoyalCare Health Services provides 8 specialised senior care services: Personal Care (bathing, grooming, dressing, mobility), Companion Care (social engagement, errands, housekeeping), Live-In Care (24/7 caregiver presence), Dementia & Memory Care, Palliative & End-of-Life Care, Respite Care, Medication Management, and Foot Care. Most clients combine services in a personalised care plan tailored to their loved one's specific needs.
Personal care involves direct, hands-on physical assistance with activities of daily living — bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and mobility. Companion care focuses on emotional and social wellbeing — conversation, activities, errands, light housekeeping, and meal preparation. Many seniors benefit from both, and we can combine them in a single flexible plan at no extra complexity.
Yes. RoyalCare Health Services provides live-in care across Ontario — a dedicated caregiver present in the home around the clock. This is ideal for seniors with advanced care needs, those living with dementia, or families who want full continuity without a facility transition. Live-in caregivers require a private bedroom in the home. Contact us for current live-in care rates and availability.
Yes. RoyalCare Health Services has a dedicated pool of caregivers with specialist training in dementia and Alzheimer's care — including person-centred approaches, validation therapy, structured routine management, sundowning strategies, and safe home environment practices. We match dementia clients specifically with caregivers who have documented experience and training in this area.
Respite care provides temporary, planned relief for family caregivers. Research consistently shows that caregiver burnout significantly reduces the quality of care provided — and has serious consequences for the caregiver's own physical and mental health. Respite care is not a luxury. It is a clinical and practical necessity. RoyalCare Health Services offers flexible respite arrangements from a few hours to extended periods.

Our Caregivers
Screening, qualifications and matching
Every RoyalCare caregiver undergoes: a full criminal background check, a vulnerable sector police check (VSS), at least two professional reference checks, PSW certificate or credential verification, and a skills and compatibility interview with our team. No caregiver enters a client's home without completing every step — no exceptions, no shortcuts.
All caregivers providing personal care are certified Personal Support Workers who have completed an approved Ontario PSW program. Companion caregivers are trained healthcare workers whose credentials are verified against their specific role requirements. All caregivers — regardless of role — complete our full multi-step screening protocol before any placement.
Matching is one of the most important things we do. We consider: your loved one's specific care needs and health conditions, caregiver clinical specialisation and experience, personality and communication style fit, language and cultural preferences, and schedule requirements. The goal is not just to fill a shift — it's to create a genuine, trusting relationship that your loved one will look forward to.
Contact us immediately at 647-557-2986 and we will identify and place a better-matched caregiver as quickly as possible — at no additional cost. Client-caregiver compatibility is a genuine priority for us. If a match doesn't feel right despite our best efforts, we fix it promptly and without fuss.
Yes. We serve Ontario's beautifully diverse communities and have caregivers who speak many languages beyond English, including French, Tamil, Punjabi, Urdu, Tagalog, Mandarin, Cantonese and others. Please share your language preference during your free consultation and we will do our best to accommodate it.

Costs & Funding
The financial side of in-home care in Ontario
Care costs vary depending on the type of service, frequency, and your specific requirements. Contact RoyalCare Health Services at 647-557-2986 or info@royalcs.org for current rate information. We are always fully transparent about costs before any care begins — no hidden fees, no surprise charges.
OHIP does not directly cover private home care services. However, Ontario's Home and Community Care program (through Ontario Health atHome, previously CCAC) provides publicly funded home care for eligible individuals, including personal support and nursing visits. There may be eligibility requirements and wait times. Private home care from RoyalCare can supplement or replace publicly funded services based on your preferences and timeline.
Many employer-provided or privately purchased extended health insurance plans include coverage for home care services. Coverage amounts and eligible services vary between plans — we recommend checking with your insurer directly. RoyalCare Health Services can provide detailed invoices and documentation to support your insurance claim.

Safety & Quality
How we protect your loved one
Every RoyalCare caregiver has passed comprehensive multi-step screening including a vulnerable sector police check before entering any client's home. We maintain regular quality check-in calls with clients and families, carry full liability insurance on all caregiving activities, keep an open communication channel for any concerns, and have a clear, fast process for addressing issues and requesting caregiver changes.
Contact RoyalCare Health Services immediately at 647-557-2986 or info@royalcs.org. All concerns are taken seriously and responded to within the same business day. For immediate safety emergencies, always call 911 first. We will address every concern directly and take appropriate action — including caregiver replacement — without delay.
Quality monitoring includes regular check-in calls with clients and family members, caregiver documentation requirements, an open-door communication policy that encourages families to raise anything at any time, and a clear escalation path for concerns. We view quality as an ongoing commitment, not a one-time box to check at the point of placement.

For Families
Supporting family caregivers
This is one of the most common and emotionally difficult challenges families face. Resistance usually reflects fear of losing independence, dignity, or privacy — all completely understandable feelings. Our care coordinators can advise on proven approaches. Common strategies include starting very gradually with a brief companion visit, framing the caregiver as a companion rather than a helper, and involving your loved one in choosing the caregiver. Patience and gentleness almost always work.
Absolutely — and we often recommend it. Being present for the first visit or two helps build trust between your loved one and the caregiver, allows you to observe and ask questions in real time, and helps the caregiver understand your loved one's preferences and routines from someone who knows them best. Most clients become fully comfortable with their caregiver independently within a few visits.
